Amplifx is committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how we handle your data.
1. Introduction
Welcome to Amplifx. This Privacy Policy explains how Amplifx ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, discloses, and protects information when you use our AI-powered meal-scoring and nutrition mobile application (the "App"). We are currently operated as a sole proprietorship in California; references to "Amplifx" include the owner and any successor entity.

2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide Directly
- Account information: first name, last name, email address, and a hashed password when you register.
- Age: a self-reported age entered during signup, used solely to determine your age band (see Section 5). The raw age integer is not stored.
- Meal data: text descriptions and photos of meals you submit for AI analysis.

- Device information: device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Advertising identifiers: your device's advertising ID (Google Advertising ID on Android; Apple IDFA on iOS, subject to your ATT consent on iOS) used by Google AdMob to serve advertisements. Whether ads are personalized depends on your age band (see Section 5).
2.3 Information from Third Parties
- Google Sign-In: if you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email address from Google.
- Google AdMob: Google's advertising SDK may collect device and usage data to serve ads. Ad personalization is configured based on your age band as described in Section 5.

- The data is processed by Anthropic's Claude AI model to generate your Energy Score and general wellness suggestions.
- Results are stored in your account in Firebase Firestore.
- Meal photos are processed in real time and are NOT permanently stored on our servers or Anthropic's servers after processing is complete.
- Your meal data is processed solely to generate your results. It is not used to train AI models.
AI analysis is for general wellness and informational purposes only. It is not medical advice. See our Terms of Service for full health disclaimers.
4. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information for money. We may share your information only as described below.
4.1 Service Providers
- Firebase / Google Cloud (Google LLC): account authentication, Firestore database, and push notifications.
- Supabase: server-side Edge Functions that securely process your meal data before passing it to Anthropic.
- Anthropic, PBC: AI processing of meal descriptions and photos to generate Energy Scores. Data processed under Anthropic's privacy policy and commercial API terms.
- Google AdMob (Google LLC): advertising services. AdMob may collect device identifiers and limited usage data to serve advertisements. Personalization is configured per your age band as described in Section 5.
- Amazon Associates: when you tap a grocery ingredient link, you are directed to Amazon.com. We receive a referral commission on qualifying purchases. Amazon's privacy policy governs any data Amazon collects from you.
- EmailJS: delivery of feedback messages you submit through the App.
4.2 Legal Requirements
We may disclose your information if required to do so by applicable law, court order, or valid governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Amplifx, our users, or others.
4.3 Business Transfers
If Amplifx is involved in a merger, acquisition, restructuring, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred. We will notify you before your information is transferred to a different privacy regime and give you the opportunity to delete your account.
4.4 With Your Consent
We may share your information for purposes not described in this Policy if we obtain your explicit, prior consent.
5. Advertising and Age-Based Ad Configuration
Amplifx is a free, ad-supported app. We work with Google AdMob to display advertisements. During signup, you enter your age. We convert that age into an age band stored in your account and use it to configure how AdMob serves ads to you. The raw age integer is discarded after bucketing and is not stored.
5.1 How Age Band Affects Advertising
- Age band "13–15": AdMob is configured to serve non-personalized ads only. Your advertising identifier is not used for behavioral targeting or shared with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising.
- Age band "16–17": AdMob may serve personalized advertisements using your advertising identifier.
- Age band "18+": AdMob may serve personalized advertisements using your advertising identifier.
5.2 Personalized Advertising and California Law
For users in the "16–17" and "18+" age bands, AdMob may use your advertising identifier to serve interest-based advertisements. This involves sharing your advertising identifier and limited usage data with Google for cross-context behavioral advertising, which California law (CPRA) treats similarly to a "sale." You may opt out at any time as described in Section 5.3.
5.3 Your Opt-Out Rights
You may opt out of personalized advertising at any time through your device settings:
- Android: Settings > Google > Ads > Delete Advertising ID (Android 12+) or Opt out of Ads Personalization.
- iOS: you will be prompted via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before we access your IDFA. You can update this at any time via Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking > Amplifx.
6. Amazon Associates Affiliate Disclosure
Amplifx participates in the Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
As an Amazon Associate, Amplifx earns from qualifying purchases. When you tap a grocery ingredient link in the App, you will be directed to Amazon.com. We may earn a referral commission on qualifying purchases at no additional cost to you. Amazon's own terms of service and privacy policy govern your experience on their platform.

- Access: request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.

- Right to Delete: request deletion of personal information we have collected from you.
- Right to Correct: request correction of inaccurate personal information.

To exercise your California rights, email team@amplifx.app with "California Privacy Request" in the subject line. We will respond within 45 days.
7.3 Minor Users
Users who enter an age below 13 are blocked from creating an account and no data is collected. Users aged 13–15 are assigned the "13–15" age band; AdMob is configured to serve non-personalized ads only for these users.
7.4 European Users (GDPR / UK GDPR)
Amplifx is currently directed at users in the United States. If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom and download the App, you may have rights under the GDPR or UK GDPR. Contact us at team@amplifx.app to exercise these rights.
8. Health-Related Data and Breach Notification
Amplifx collects wellness-related information, including your meal entries, water intake, and Energy Scores. We are not a healthcare provider and are not covered by HIPAA; however, the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule applies to our handling of personally identifiable health information.
In the event of a breach, we will notify affected users without unreasonable delay and no later than 60 calendar days after discovery.
9. Data Retention
- Age (raw integer): not stored. Discarded immediately after age band is computed at signup.
- Age band: stored for the life of the account; deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
- Meal photos: processed in real time; not retained after AI analysis is complete.
- Meal descriptions, Energy Scores, nutrition history: retained until you delete them or delete your account.
- Account information: deleted from active systems within 30 days of account deletion and from backups within 90 days.
- Feedback messages: retained for up to 2 years for quality-improvement purposes, then deleted.
10. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including Firebase Authentication with JWT-based access, server-side JWT verification on all API requests, HTTPS/TLS encryption for all data in transit, and Firestore security rules restricting access to authenticated account owners only.
11. Automated Decision-Making (AI Analysis)
Amplifx uses AI to generate Energy Scores and general wellness suggestions. This process involves automated processing of text and image data. The AI analysis is for general informational and wellness purposes only. It does not produce legally significant decisions. Your meal data is not used to train AI models.
12. Children's Privacy
Amplifx is not intended for children under the age of 13. Users who enter an age below 13 during signup are blocked from creating an account. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has used the App, please contact us at team@amplifx.app.
13. Third-Party Links and Services
The App integrates with Firebase, Supabase, Anthropic, Google AdMob, Amazon Associates, and EmailJS. You can review their privacy policies:
14. Push Notifications
With your permission, we may send push notifications for meal reminders and daily summary alerts. You can disable push notifications at any time via Settings > Notifications within the App or through your device's system notification settings.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
For material changes, we will send a notification through the App at least 15 days before the change takes effect and require you to affirmatively re-accept the updated Policy at your next login.
